About Herself:

When I entered online world, my first nick/code name was "torete" and since then my online friends call me "torete" or "toretz" even whenever I meet them in person. The song means a lot to me and tells a lot of me, the way I handled things and the way I feel. Since I started publishing articles and compositions online, I changed it to "simplesoul" and then to "solidadah" which is what I am using now.

-=- Music -=-

I'm a music lover and I love to sing and dance. I dance to the different tune of music depending on what mood I have. What I like the most is to sing with my guitar in which I can choose my song, rhythm and tune.

-=- Nature -=-

I was born a nature lover. My favorite color is brown and green. I crave for hiking and island hopping. I love fruits more than any other food in the world!

-=- What they say... -=-

They said I was a "go-with-the-flow" person. What's in store for me, I go with it without asking for more. I'm just a simple person and I only have a simple dream and wish. Someone described me as an odd person maybe because I am silent in someways and talkative in another. That will depend on you . I have a soft heart they say and easily get carried away. I'm just a sentimental person and you'll see it in all my compositions.

On Choosing to Write Online

A friend introduced Triond to me and I tried to post one composition of mine. I hesitated at first but when I saw the results, the views and the comments, I realized that it wasn't bad at all. Since then I started to publish my works online.

Aside from the TFD site and Triond, where else could readers find your written work? (You may cite your own website/s or blog/s.)

I have two blogs but both are still not updated but I’m starting to work again.

My first blog is "The Simple Souls" (https://thesimplesouls.blogspot.com). I also invited friends to post articles in this blog.

I also have a personal blog which is In My Solitude (https://solidadah.blogspot.com).

What makes her happy:

I can be happy even in small things but what really makes me happy is when I am with my family and seeing them happy and healthy. I also enjoy being with true friends and people who knows and accepts me for who I am.

Her worst pet peeves:

I hate hearing people judging people's abilities, appearance, etc. the way they want to. We don’t know whats going on in each other's life completely so we don’t have the right to do so. Chismosa (the highest level :P) is different from Observer. Chismosa listens and judge while Observer listens and understand.. I don’t like people who say things to boast their ego and doesn’t care if they hurt others.

Her goals:

To have a stable job so I can help my nephews and nieces with their education. Aja tita solidadah!

Length of time she has been part of TFD:

 Since it started.

Why she likes the group?

I found a new family here.

Suggestions for the TFD:

I suggest that we'll have at least 2 or more meetings every month wherein the group will go online in a specific time to discuss and update the site or any other matters. So, at the earlier time we can save time for TFD meetings.

Message to the readers:

Hey yah! We do thank you for visiting our home online and for supporting us. If you're hiding a writer side of you I encourage you to join us and start writing with us. Just continue visiting and enjoy reading!

Her own Mission Statement as part of the Group:

I will post my works consistently.
Will continue to advertise and invite people to join the group.

Why He Likes TFD

People here are down-to-earth except for one!

Suggestions for The Filipino Diaspora (TFD)

Primarily, the group vision is to share our Triond’s works. But how can it be when most of the members ‘abandoned’ the site? Nevertheless, one can still help the group gain ground by simply supporting others’ works.

His Own Mission Statement as Part of the Group

Let everyone do his/her little part.

Message to the Readers

Your positive criticism is much appreciated.

Member Profile - EK Encarnacion

The online community knows me as EK Encarnacion, but to my family and friends I am called as Son and Ely respectively. Because I have this east meets west blood in me, I have reason to believe that I am the remaining descendant from a hybrid of polar and panda bears. But kidding aside, I am a licensed chemist and currently, a graduate student taking up MS in Environmental Science. However, despite my scientifically-inclined background, most people affirm that I should be in the arts and exploring my real passions: writing, cooking and acting.

On Choosing to Write Online

Before, when I didn’t have an offline job, I wrote online mainly to earn money. But then I realized that it really takes time to establish oneself as an online writer. It was then that I started focusing on readership rather than revenue. And now, with several people following my blog posts, I feel inspired to continue touching lives and making people feel that there is another person across cyberspace that most probably feels the same way as them.

Life and Laughter Blog: http://every-comedy-thing.tumblr.com/
Travel and Leisure Blog: http://travelocities.tumblr.com/

What Makes Him Happy

Call me cheesy but I’m happy when my family’s needs and wants are answered. I am happy when I am able to spend time with my friends. I am happy when I am able to travel to new places and learn new things. I am happy when I am able to buy things for me and for people I care for. Thus, I am happy when I have money. Who isn’t? I am happy when I get to eat chocolates and peanuts. I am happy when I feel loved.

His Worst Pet Peeves

I am not a big fan of people who smoke within my vicinity, get permanent tattoos, pierce their bodies and drink too much alcohol. I also don’t like to be around people who are unreasonably quiet, unaccommodating and non-participative. I also am not a big fan of people who arrive late than the meeting time specified without valid reasons.

His Goals

My ultimate goals are to be able to glorify God in everything that I do and to be able to inspire others so that they too may see the goodness of the Father above. In addition, my other personal goals include having businesses of my own that is able to generate income that is more than enough to supply the needs and answer the wants of my family. A beautiful house, a family of my own, an institution that can be of help to other individuals are just some of the things that follow.

Length of Time He Has Been Part of TFD

I have been with TFD since the foundation of the group.

Why He Likes TFD

I love, not just like, the group because all the other members make me feel that I belong despite our distances plus the fact that we have not even seen each other since the founding of the group.

Suggestions for The Filipino Diaspora (TFD)

I think if the group really wants to make impact, we should start making time and putting efforts in meeting beyond the computer screens. And I do know that I also fail in this aspect. I mean, I do believe that planning and brainstorming, but most importantly, putting time and effort into attending real-time meetings is the key in really catapulting TFD into becoming a recognized group not only online but also in the real setting; not only locally but also globally.

His Own Mission Statement as Part of the Group

I really want TFD to be able to create a monthly publication to which people from other places all over the world are willing to pay for and subscribe to. I am willing to write for a TFD magazine or whatsoever. With this group teeming with creative juice, I really find it impossible for us to capture people’s curiosity and attention.

Message to the Readers

Continue reading valuable articles. An individual whose mind has been sharpened by reading has an edge in this life full of competition.
